Drug Testing

The three established methods of drug testing are urine, oral fluid and hair. As Hampton Knight is an independent company and not a laboratory we can offer impartial advice on the most appropriate method for your company. The laboratories we work with are UKAS accredited and work to UK guidelines for workplace drug testing.

Urine

Hampton Knight can offer a range of onsite test cups with a six panel or nine panel of drugs. These test cups are ideal for pre-employment screening and for-cause testing. They are FDA approved and have cut-off levels to the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) guidelines. GC/MS confirmation analysis must be carried out on any positive reactions from the test cup to ensure the outcome is legally robust.

Training on the test cups can be provided with certification. We can also provide consent forms and testing protocols.

Oral Fluid

Our oral fluid testing products include an onsite kit and laboratory analysis. The window for detection in oral fluid is generally smaller than with urine and is suitable for for-cause or random testing. The onsite test kit is FDA approved and the cut-off levels are to the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) guidelines. GC/MS confirmation analysis must be carried out on any positive reactions from the onsite test kit to ensure the outcome is legally robust.

Hair

Hair testing offers the longest window of detection as it can detect drug use for up to 3 months. It offers a lifestyle test more than an impairment test. It is suitable for pre-employment screening although is more expensive than urine or to build up a history of someone’s drug use.
